Youth Career Workshop in Hammonton, NJ
Through our Youth Career Workshop, youth can participate in personal and vocational self-discovery. Participants will learn about their strengths, abilities, and post-secondary education options and participate in career exploration and job readiness classes.
CLASSES BEGIN SPRING, 2024. Classes will be from 5 to 7:30 pm every Thursday at Con-Vivir Wellness Hub, 100 S Second St, Hammonton, NJ.
Through this participation, they will learn whether higher education or joining the workforce is suitable for them immediately. They will also learn to conduct a job search, how to dress for an interview and the process of applying for college enrollment. More importantly, they will be able to find out what their passion is and the importance of using it to better serve the needs of the world in the 21st century.
All of these topics and instruction through EmpoderArte will increase students' chances of getting accepted to a college or learning leadership skills and entrepreneurial skills for those who want to start their own business.
Topics
Students will participate in a weekly 2.5-hour session for 8 weeks, where they will get to interact with other youth and exchange ideas about their future. Before sessions begin, there will be a parent-youth orientation to obtain more information about the sessions and sign the required documents for participation. Every session will include materials needed to participate and dinner. This program, sponsored by the Center for Hispanic Policy Research and Development, seeks to empower youth to build on the skills they need to transition to college and adulthood and prevent school dropouts.
This program is for youth ages 14-20. Classes will take place from 5 to 7:30 pm every Thursday, at Con-Vivir Wellness Hub, 100 S Second St, Hammonton, NJ.

Main areas of development
Job Readiness. Our participants develop their resumes, learn how to fill out a job application, and prepare for an interview. We work on mock interviews to show our participants the potential questions that may be asked in an interview and how to respond. Participants dress for an interview, and we discussed the do’s and don’ts of interview apparel.
Post-Secondary Options. Participants learn to apply to college and what documents are needed to complete a financial aid application. Participants are provided with online resources to assist them in the college application process and employment search.
Career exploration. Participants meet speakers from different backgrounds who talk to them about their jobs. Participants present their Vision Board and participate in a career exploration activity that helped them gain knowledge of what questions to ask when exploring careers and obtain the information they need.
